Superelevation on Bends

Superelevation, or 'banking', on road bends is a design feature that helps vehicles safely navigate curves by counteracting centrifugal forces.

When a vehicle travels around a bend, it experiences an outward centrifugal force. Superelevation involves tilting the road surface upwards towards the outside of the bend, which helps to balance this force and improve vehicle stability. The degree of superelevation is carefully calculated based on the bend's radius, design speed, and friction characteristics, ensuring a comfortable and safe driving experience.
